Tiger Shroff shot at in Juhu: five rounds fired at actor's car, Eknath Shinde visits

Sunday evening, Pushpa Park in Juhu. Three men arrived on a motorcycle; two of them allegedly opened fire at Tiger Shroff's car and fled, The Hindu reported. Late Sunday night, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde was at the actor's home, assuring the family of the government's support.

What happened in Juhu on Sunday evening

Tiger Shroff was returning home in his car on Sunday evening, 18 October, when three unidentified men on a motorcycle opened fire at the vehicle in Juhu, according to IANS and ANI. Shinde told reporters that five rounds were fired.

The actor escaped without a bullet wound, but Shinde said he sustained hand injuries "caused by gunpowder and shards of glass". His driver was also injured in the firing, IANS reported.

A note on the injuries: reports differ on where the bandages were. IANS reported dressings on the actor's chest and left arm, while ANI's account of the same meeting mentions a dressing on the shoulder and a bandage on the right arm. The injury itself — and that Shroff is safe — is confirmed by both.

Shinde's late-night visit

Shinde visited Shroff's residence late Sunday night to check on him. Photographs from the meeting — the first images to surface after the attack — show the actor with dressings visible as he sits beside the Deputy Chief Minister; his mother, Ayesha Shroff, was also present, ANI reported.

"He has injuries on his hand caused by gunpowder and shards of glass," Shinde said. "Both he and his mother are quite shaken."

What the police and government say

Shinde said he had spoken to the Mumbai Police Commissioner, who has formed several teams to track down and apprehend the accused. "Our current priority is to keep Mumbai and its citizens safe," he said. "No gang, whoever they may be, will be spared," IANS reported.

Put more directly, he told The Hindu the police would "respond to them in the language they understand."

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has also directed the Police Commissioner to investigate immediately and take strict action, IANS reported.

The industry reacts

The All India Cine Workers Association (AICWA) called the attack part of a wider pattern of insecurity in Mumbai. "Today it is Tiger Shroff. Who is next? When a celebrity is not safe in the heart of Mumbai, how can an ordinary Mumbaikar feel safe?" the association said, according to IANS.

What we still don't know

The identity of the three men, the motive, and the weapon used all remain unconfirmed. No arrests had been confirmed as of early Monday morning. Police teams are working to identify the assailants and establish the motive, per reports.
